Weekly Featured Video

This one is especially for all the tweeters out there!

While Twitter has done a lot for organizations and people that just want to be heard, it also has some drawbacks.

If we let the intelligent, thought-provoking and utterly awesome people tweet, we have to let everyone tweet. That includes those who tweet every second of their day about things no one particularly cares about.

So in honor of those tweeters, check out this video!

Ch-ch-check it out!

In honor of all the video suggestions I've been receiving from my friends and Pi Phi sisters, I thought a new post was in order!

Also, my wonderful father shared my blog on Facebook, so for all you 1st time readers out there: welcome!

To recap, the purpose of this blog is to share my experiences as an intern with ShortForm, and what it takes to promote something like a blog or channel of videos.

(Click here for more information on ShortForm and my internship)

Now that you're caught up, the real focus behind this blog is to direct readers to my channel! So check it out, enjoy, and leave comments on here about your favorite videos!

Weekly Featured Video

Hola from Iowa!
Tiana and I last year before
sorority recruitment.
We both pledged Pi Beta Phi that night!

For most of my readers/channel viewers, it is Spring Break.

Because of this, I don't feel quite so guilty about the small number of views my channel has gotten this week.

But humor doesn't take a vacation, and so the funny videos continue with this week's featured video!

This video was brought to my attention by my roommate from last year: Miss Tiana Wheeler! I've learned to trust the videos she sends me, because we have exactly the same sense of humor!

So in honor of her, enjoy the best commercial ever!

While you wrap up your crazy Spring Break excursions, stay safe, stay classy and stay tuned!

The next video I feature may be from you!

Weekly Featured Video

This will be the start of my weekly featured videos - obviously..featuring.. a video.

I will accept nominations for videos from my readers (that's YOU!). Or... if no one has a preference I will pick it myself.

This one was JUST too funny to pass up.

What's cooler than being cool? Not these guys..

In the words of Jay Z..

Thank you thank you very much for checking out my channel last week!  I ended up getting 206 views and I was chosen as one of the three critic's choice top channels.

What does this mean? I still have no idea. But it obviously means I (meaning my viewers!) have done something right in helping me to reach a larger audience.

When my boss and I had our weekly phone conference, we decided that a good goal for last week was reaching 100 views.

Boy did I smash that. And again by "I", I mean YOU! You're far too kind.

You guys truly are awesome. No, I'm not making any money with this job yet. But I am having just the best time researching all these funny videos and hearing what my friends have to say about them.

Please feel free to comment on this blog whenever you want, suggesting weekly themes (which will start after break), giving me links to videos, or complimenting me on my awesomeness (hehe).

I take that back, don't just feel free, please DO comment. I don't want this to be a one-way street here people. I want more than just the average college-student blog where I post and you secretly read. I want to interact!

Until the next post and/or comment, au revoir!

Holy Views

As I wrote yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of views I had received by Wednesday morning.

After sending out my channel's link to the entire campus, I heard from a few random people that they had been watching my channel. Now these random people are great, really, but we're not close enough that they would be giving me pity views because I sent desperate emails asking them to throw me a bone and watch already (not that I would do that...).

So, being the curious and success-obsessed girl that I am, I decided to check my ratings once more.

Um hello... 160 views! 80 views in the past 5 hours? I still don't quite believe it. But nonetheless, I am stoked... with a capital STOKED!

This MUST be what fame feels like.

Well not quite, but I'll get there... just you wait and see.

Pleasantly Surprised

So as I was watching epic videos on my channel last night, I glanced down at my statistics. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised as to what I found!

I started with ShortForm on Valentine's Day, and I had high hopes that my ratings would be out of this world. I mean who wouldn't want to watch the funniest YouTube videos of all time? Only really boring people (or so I thought). That first week I received 39 views.

"Relax," I told myself. It's only my first week. It will surely pick up NEXT week.

Fast forward to 'next week.' For some reason, people just weren't in the mood to laugh that week because I only had 29 views.

So over the weekend I did a little thinking about how successful this channel could be if apparently no one was interested in humorous videos.

But I carried on and kept posting YouTube sensations. After I noticed many girls in my sorority were singing "Hamster on a Piano," I decided to check my statistics. By Wednesday morning I had already gotten 47 views on my channel! I was so surprised.

It just made me realize that I'm still very new to ShortForm, as is the rest of the world (it's a new company based out of San Francisco - not even a year old yet!).

I will surely have my down weeks, but I now have a renewed hope in my fellow Americans that they can all appreciate a good laugh once in a while.

For the sake of my sanity, I just hope that 'once in a while' is often...
